5 Podcasts To Get You Going In The Morning

morning podcasts

The way we consume media is changing along with technology and our lifestyle demands.

This has given rise to podcasts, and they’re now more popular than ever. For good reason, too.

Listening to podcasts is a great way to expand your knowledge while on the go.

If you’re not into reading or don’t have the time to sit down and watch a TV show, podcasts are a perfect alternative.

Tuning into a podcast instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media on your daily commute, or instead of listening to music during your morning workout, could give you the kick start you need to start your day the right way.

It can also make you more productive.

If you think podcasts just aren’t your thing, hold on. There are so many different ones out there that there’s something for everyone, but it’s hard to know where to start. Here are five great podcasts to start your day.

Get Ya Mind Right

Olaniyi Sobomehin (or Niyi Sobo) is an ex-professional NFL running back. Since retiring, he’s been working with high-performance athletes as a mindset consultant.

On his podcast, Get Ya Mind Right, he shares the strategies that he used in his professional sporting career, and that he passes on to his clients to build confidence and dominate the competition.

Sobo explains how you don’t need to have extraordinary talent to succeed in whatever you do, as long as you put the work in, and he provides the mental strategies you need to do so.

In that, he focuses a lot on setting goals and maintaining the habits required to reach them. This is technically a sports motivation podcast, but you don’t need to be an athlete or gym goer to get something good out of it.

If you’re into hip hop, you’ll love this podcast even more. He lays his hard-hitting motivational talk over smooth hip hop beats, and something about that combination gets you even more pumped up.

Recommended episodes: Anything is Possible, Quit Being Scared, and The Dangers of Comfort.

The School of Greatness

This podcast was created by another former American football player, Lewis Howes.

He’s also a best-selling author and entrepreneur. In The School of Greatness, he talks about what makes great people great. This involves going over stories from some of the most successful business people, celebrities and athletes in the world and in some episodes, interviewing them.

There are new episodes every few days, so you don’t have to wait long to get your fix. Each one has a personal story or message which will inspire you to unlock your inner greatness.

Recommended Episodes: Tony Robbins – The Ultimate Guide to Financial Success and Happiness, Be The Hardest Worker, and Master Your Day.

The 5am Miracle

The 5am Miracle is produced by Jeff Sanders, author of the best-selling book by the same name.

Jeff is also a productivity coach, and every Monday, he releases a new episode in which he talks about self-improvement and how to motivate yourself to become more productive.

The goal of this podcast is to make you ‘dominate your day before breakfast’, and it really gives you the energy you need to take on whatever the day has in store for you.

Recommended Episodes: 10 Guaranteed Methods to Ruin your Morning Routine, The Best Daily Rituals for High Energy and Rockin’ Productivity, and The Weekly Review Checklist: Never Forget Anything Again.

The Bugle

If you’re a bit of a grump in the morning, you might need some laughter to get you out of bed, and if you also want a bit of good old fashioned news to start your day, this is the podcast for you.

The Bugle is a comedy news podcast which calls itself ‘an audio newspaper for a visual world’, created by hilarious talk show host John Oliver along with Andy Zaltzman.

Fans of the Last Week Tonight TV show and The Onion-style satire will love this one. New episodes are released every week, bringing you some of the most important and most absurd news from around the world along with side-splitting commentary.

Recommended Episodes: Happy Death-iversary!, Was Stonehenge an Ancient Tax Dodge?, and Possibly the Longest Penis Joke in the World, Ever.

Good Job, Brain!

This one will get your brain working in the morning. Good Job, Brain is a quiz podcast hosted by a group of friends who created it to share their love of trivia.

It’s full of fun facts and puzzles, so if you love pub quizzes and useless information, this might be the podcast for you.

The four hosts are delightfully funny, and as you play along, you’ll find yourself laughing along with them, too. It’s a nice slice of edutainment to wake you up.

Recommended Episodes: Cracking the Code, All Around the World, and Waking Up is Hard to do.
